Marek Krajewski The End of the World in Breslau

Marek Krajewski The End of the World in Breslau , Einaudi Stile Libero, 2008

rating 9 / 10

Do not judge a book by its cover, sometimes you just do not succeed, but the novel is Krajewsky advice to follow. Not because he said something wrong, simply does not reflect in any way the content of the novel. A photo in the late nineteenth century early twentieth-century style that refers to lustful dreams opiates, women naked in a greenish gloom that might be hallucinating or dame vampire prostitutes like those that trap Harker in Dracula's Castle, if you add that Krajewsky teaches classical philology at the University of Wroclaw (now Wroclaw) certainly has not led to imagine that Eberhard Mock, the protagonist of the series, a character can be managed so modern, in a kind of saturated with imitations, or worse, would-be innovations, such as the noir detective.
